Retainers
At the completion of your treatment, you will be given a set of Vacuum Formed Retainers that are necessary to prevent any movement of the teeth that has been achieved during the treatment.
You will be asked to wear Vacuum Formed Retainers every night post Orthodontic Treatment.
Retention is an extremely important part of the treatment; when asked how long retainers should be worn, we strongly recommend – it for as long as you want your teeth to be nice and straight.
Unfortunately, there is a risk that the teeth will try to move back to the position they were in prior to orthodontic treatment (and it is impossible to predict how drastic the teeth movements may be).
Bonded Retainers
Bonded retainers are attached to the back of the teeth with a composite material, and they cannot be removed by the patient.
Bonded retainers give extra security (please note, even if you choose to have Bonded retainers, you will be asked to wear removable, nighttime retainers, too).
